Heatsink/cooler suggestions

i need a new cpu cooler, does anyone have any suggestions for an AMD socket A chip. im not interested in water cooled. and can i even go in there and take out the old one, or is there going to be a problem with the thermal gel coating? and i think im gonna get a new case fan, any suggestions on those?

Zalman and Thermaltake both make really nice ones in my humble opinion.

Need a new one because it's dead or because you want to overclock? I've never heard of busting a heatsink before. If that's the case, please share the gory details.

in that case maybe a Cooler Master or the aforementioned Thermaltake.

Go to www.newegg.com and check out their wide assortment of coolers. You can also see how many decibals each are rated at and what lots of other computer enthusiasts think about each particular model.

Often times the comments section has pretty solid recommendations.

Thermalright not thermaltake (loud and sometimes cheaply made) seem to produce top quality cooling- all models. You just have to select a fan. Panasonic panafo fans are great but you have to terminate them, vantec stealth is quiet and a good compromise but nine bucks.
svc.com has the sk-7 which is geat for the money. Watever you get make shure it is all copper or has a massive copper base. Newegg has thermalright too. I belive swiftech and thermalright have been tested at the top of the heap.

ya, i actually have a "thermaltake" right now. it sux. its a noisy b#stard. i checked out zalmans website the other day, they have some wild looking stuff but expensive. i think im gonna hold off for now on replacing the thermaltake. i ordered a Vantic stealth the other day for my case thats all im gonna do for now tell i get a job.

i've never had any problems with any of my Thermaltakes.

The best cooling solution for AMD will be a SLK 900 + Noiseblocker S4.
This rig is the more efficient in terms of noise and heat but it's a little expensive, about 50/70
