HELP! I missed a joint when binding

SO, here's the deal. I have this cat, I had it smooth binded and I apparently missed the femur of the hind right leg when I was selecting each joint.
I already have the weights for all the other 3 legs, the back, and chest done.

I really don't wan to spend another 11 hours doing it over....

PLEASE someone tell me there is a way I can add it in, or relatively painlessly get everything back.

I tried exporting the skin weights...but I dont know how to do that, and when I tried importing them it didn't seem to make any difference.

One way to fix this is to Detach the skin with Keep History on. This will keep all your skin weights and bind pose etc. eventhough you have detached the mesh from the skin cluster. Now simply bind the mesh again remembering the add the joint you forgot. The new joint should now be in the skin cluster with no weight at all because you have kept the old weights. Now you can add the weights you want to the new joint.

Calm.... calm.

Simply skin the mesh to the leg, this should not overwrite any of the existing weighting. No detaching, no nothing fancy, just smooth bind. I've done this before, too, and the simplicity is what I had overlooked.

If you try to skin a mesh again, that is already skinned, you get an error:

// Error: line 1: Selected geometry pSphere1 is already connected to a skinCluster //

This is why I suggested the detach skin option.

Ah, too true, that's what working from memory gets me!

Actually, what I MEANT to say was skin->edit smooth skin->add influence.

My bad. I've found this infinitely safer to the de-re-attachamolympics, which is why I suggested it although, incorrectly at first. Whoops. -J.
