I downloaded a shader (rusty_metal_shader01.ma), but how do I install it? I've looked on other sites and all they say is install in your directory and voilla! But that doesn't help me. HOW do you install it... [b]Step by step please.

From the Hypershade's menu, select file > Import.
I've already tried that. When I go to Select File > Import > rusty_metal_shader1.ma, all I get is this following message... "Errors have occurred in reading this scene that may result in data loss. Please check the Script Editor for details." The script editor just tells me the file is not compatible with my version of Maya. But this applies to every single shader I have downloaded. Is there a work-around?
Not really. You can force the maya to think its ok byt thet dont protect you form errors by editting the files in text editor to say the version of maya you are using. All beyound this si just pure luck.
Upgrade your maya.
