Ok, so I made a base mesh in Maya then exported it to Mudbox. I ramped up the detail bit by bit making my sculpture to 15.5 million polys. And I really like my sculpture. BUT I FORGOT TO UV MAP MY ORIGINAL BASE MESH IN MAYA.
So Mudbox won't deal with it. And I can sort of get the thing into Maya but 15.5 million polys..OMG..this is slow in MAya.
So I need to UV map this thing somehow so I can generate a normal map and do some serious work on it with Mental Ray.
So I take it into Zbrush. I retopologize. This works fine. Never done it before. So now I have this almost finished retopologized mesh for my sculpture.
What next? How do I save this thing for starters...and where should I UV map it. In Maya? If so how do I generate the Normal map to the new topology I've made?
