Help! menus are showing up greyed out

Hey!

This is whats happening....

I am using maya 5.0 unlimited. It worked fine on my previous computer, but I recently purchased a laptop. I installed maya on there with no problem, but when I went to layout some uv's I discovered there is a problem. Some tools are missing their options. Example, I open the extended planar map options and I get the pop up box, but with no options in it, it is just greyed out. But, some of the other tools have options. I tried reinstalling maya, but to no avail. I also tried trashing the prefs, but that did not help..Could it be caused by the video card. I am now using the nvidia quadro fx go700 .Any suggestions?? Please let me know. Thanks..

Do you happen to be running on a Dell M60 If you are we seem to have the same problem. Alias does have a so called solution( tried it no luck) I just posted the same question on 3/30/04 maybe between the both of us we can come up with some answers?

Hey me again,
maya 5/dell M60 compatibility

Just did some research and might have found the answer , has to do with the M60:s default video setup has font scaling enabled so the text will be easier to read at the WUXGA"s preferred resolution of 1920x1600. Maya can not resize it's windows to fit the text size increase , so in this case Maya just stops rendering text. I didn"t try this yet but if you turn of the font scailing Maya should work fine. good luck !
