Help on very tough composite

Hi there,

I'm trying to do an unusual shot - a hand held plate that pans to the right, stops (where the blue screened talent will be), then pans back to pick up on a cg element (vehicle) coming into frame and landing. The problem I'm having is no matter how carefully I 2D track the plate in combustion, when I introduce my bluescreen actor at the end of the pan, I can't get rid of the slight jitter between the two elements, thus making it obvious he ain't actually there.

I realise I'm combining live action with, um, live action - but that's the shot - and no, no chance of redoing them with motion control, I can reshoot the bluescreen however. Has anyone got any ideas how I can and lock these two elements together and nail this shot ?

I have made shots like this work, one hand held, the other not... but it is nigh impossible, friend, to track two handhelds.

If you can reshoot the bluescreen, do so and make sure the following:

The bluescreen footage is absolutely stable. Don't move the camera at all.

That should help some. But then, I don't know if you were moving the bluescreen camera in the first place.

Hi,

Sometimes i try to combine a little tracking and keyframe techniques to lock two footages together. Use the discreet tracker on the blue screen element only to the portion when the live segment is relatively stable. Manually keyframe during the pan. There's no easy way to get it done but with a little(or a lot) of patience, anything is possible.

have you tried using the "stabilize" option instead of straight-ahead tracking?

i dunno.....
