Help With Mesh

I'm new to Maya and I was trying this tutorial for modeling and it said exactly this:

"Go to edit mesh/transform component, this will give you manipulator, scale around x a bit."

I cant find edit mesh/transform in the edit drop down menu. Any help?

I'm looking for which tutorial you are doing and which version of Maya you are using but I'm not seeing it

The tool it's referring to is currently located in Edit Mesh>Transform Component which may be different than versions prior to Maya 8.

I'm using Maya 8.0. Do you know where i can find that tool in Maya 8.0?

Its not there, I go Edit (the one in the top main tabs) and I don't see Mesh in there. :S

You have to be in the "polygons" mode , choose polygons from the pulldownn in the upper left hand corner

it's not in the "Edit" menu it's in the "Edit Mesh" menu
