I have a biped character that I have skinned. I adjusted the vertex weights on the left side and used mirror mode to reflect the vertex weights on the opposite side. The problem arises when I go to test the the character with some simple animation, it appears as though the weights are not taking effect, especially with the fingers. My only solution has been to make manual adjustments to individual vertices. Then if I go back and make further adjustments to the left side of the body and copy use mirror mode again, it copies all of the vertex weights, overriding the manual work I just did, even though I just selected the vertecies for the body part I wanted to copy over.
Does max only allow all vertice weights to be copied over, not just the parts of the body that I select? Also, if the body is not 100% symmetrical (even though it may only be marginally off), does that affect the accuracy of mirroring vertice weights?
I think there has to be an easier way, right?
