Hello out there! So this is the first time I've ever really posted on Creative Crash before, so hopefully this is the right forum for this. I'm working on a short film for a class project. The main character, a cuckoo bird, was modelled in Max, but will be brought into Maya for rigging and animation. My issue is that I have already done my morphers in Max and I've gotten them to work well. My character blinks, opens and closes his mouth, scowls, etc. Now, I know I'm making life difficult and that maya has blendshapes, which can do exactly what I've already done in max. I've used maya once for blendshapes before and I was not happy with the results. I found the geometry didn't move and respond as I wanted it to. My morphers for max work exactly as I want.
So here's my issue. How do I import my geometry, along with the morphers into Maya? I know that .obj has a nasty habit of reordering the vertices. Even if the morpher controls don't specifically work in maya, I at least want to be able to use the geometry I've already modelled.
Anyway, thanks for taking a look and putting up with my longwinded explanation. If you need anymore details, or if my question is not clear, please let me know and I'll try to clarify. Both programs are the 2011 version.
