am trying to make a black object that is highly reflective/refractive but that doesn't get any brighter than black when lit -- i just want specular highlights basically. Imagine the black monolith from 2001 if it were a giant shiny black mirror like object. Any help would be appreciated.
Then give it a blinn shader, turn the color down to black and set the specular high, the Eccentricity low and specular color to white. Set reflectivity to to 1 and then give it a reflection map that is mostly dark with whitish highlights to reflect.
i have never made a reflection map and the ones ive tried to create for this project are less than inspiring. is there an example you could point me to so I know what properties work best if i want my camera to move around this object. and what if i want to add another object into the scene and have that reflected in my shiny black object? thanks again for the reply.
