My first impression is that everything looks very saturated. The colors are very pure. Especially the trees are very green. But the whole night sky thing makes me try and put a spooky mood over it that doesn't work with the saturated colors. Not to mention that everything gets less saturated at night anyway.
Perhaps a fog/mist thing over the whole would help.

Many people looked at this scene (outside of highend 3D) and that's the best comment yet. I think that you are right - mood isn't there and I have to work some more with the lights.
