How can i Wrap Text around A curve

Hi, I've decided to be an ultra nerd and start modeling the one ring from Lord of the Rings, but I want to put the evlsih inscription on it. So i downloaded a font to type with and i figure i can type that up, put on a glow, and then hide the source, but my only problem is, i don't know how i can wrap the text i have around the ring. I figured I can make a nurbs circle that will fit around the ring and confine the text to that, but I don't know how. Can anyone help me out? Also if anyone knows how to make a good section of lava (non animated, but needs black sections to rest the ring on), please let me know.

Maybe i'm doing something wrong, but that's not really working out too well. like i can't really get it on the ring and it's not really in the shape of the ring either, also i want it to be a still image not an animated

A path animation can be still.. you prbably fail because you are ysing a multi patch modell made of nurbs for the text.

But i strongly suggest you use bump or for cclser inspection a displacement map for the text instead.

I have no idea how to do displacement maps, but i don't want to do bump because it's not an inscription, it literally is just a glow that overlays the ring when it gets hot, it shouldn't be going in or sticking up at all.

It it's just a glow then map a texture to the glow intensity. Or use a layered texture to change the color of the surface.

The lotr inscripyion in the movie is actualy a inscription that appears so ut actaualy is grooved ist just not wisible unless its hot! Its magic.

Its made with bump and glow id think maybe up lose with a small displacement!
