How do i render my animation?

i have a sphere and a earth map thrown onto to.. i have it animated.. (simple 360 degree turn) now how do i render out my animation?

Render menuset -> Render -> Batch render.

But youd bne better of starting maya from commandline with the render command instead (saves you soe resources)
