How do you achieve lens flare effects like on music videos?

is there a way to get that blue streak type lens flare you get alot on music videos in shake? or if not does anybody know of any other software that can do it?

Well i would assume most people use some plugin to do this. Such as http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/products/all/knoll-light-factory/

But since shake is discontinued youll see that theres not much market for makeing stuff like this available retoractively.

there is a macro right here on this site you can use that has a LOT of flare options and they work great...props to Majestik for puting this clean plugin together AND FOR FREE =)...link:

as for what joojaa says there will not be many things added to shake in the future by major companies, but there are some pretty hefty macro builders out there. and on top of that you still have the option of using the sapphire pluggins and even furnace from the foundry.

I have to step on his and say no. In almost all the highend video film/commercial i have done, We almost never use plugins but some library of real lens flares. Shoot on black backgrounds they are keyed stabilised and tracked on the pictures. It gives you a much better result and a real and organic feel that is really difficult to get with a plug in.
That doesn't mean you can't get something nice from a plug in but it is a hell lot of work to make it feels as good than a real element
usualy comping them in add or ever mode push the brightness to go extra white, that often helps

agreed that real flares are the best...you cannot beat that crisp and natural feel

but sticking to his original question...if you ARE looking for software solutions there are plenty out there mentioned above.
