How do you add a control vertex to curve?

How do you add a control vertex to nurbs curve in a specific spot as apposed to using rebuild curve?

right click the curve and select curve point.
click on the curve once where you want the new CV to be. a yellow dot should appear.
with the yellow dot still there, go to edit curves>> insert knot.
