How do you make a quick preview in XSI?

Hi everybody!

I would like to know how fast it is to get a quick preview of you animation in real time with XSI.

For example, in 3DSMAX, you choose Make Preview and you get an avi file with the images looking just like in the viewports so it's faster to render. I can then save this avi file to look at it later if I need to without having to remake the preview.

I know that long ago, with Softimage, you had to render your frames and then go to Tools, start the FlipBook and load the rendered images in it.

Is it better in XSI now? Is it possible to render just a quick avi file and save it ?

Use the Capture option. (Click the icon at the top of the viewport that you want to preview.) It will make an avi, quicktime or image sequence of your animation using the shading type that the viewport is set to. It uses opengl, so it's much faster than a render.
