Well here it is... A Counter Strike clan site with the interface being 3DsMAX renders. Please let me know what you think of the 3D portion of it and what I can do to better ones experience. Does the 3D interface work well?

the whole site is extremely annoying in every way imaginable. if you really wanted to top it off you should add a 3d spinning logo.
then again, i'm not the target audience your trying to impress.

its much too much loading for the average user, (not everyone has cable or higher) and even though counterstrike is dear to my heart.. the bomb timer noise got old REAL fast... oh... and forcing full screen is the WORST idea ever.. WORST..
I recommend not hiding topics in your main menu. People will probably not spend the time to check each selection to see what they are. You can include the animations in the overstate, but at least put some text lables or something so they can see all the selections at once.

I especialy dont like the way you make it fullscreen, yuck. Theres a reason we use windowing sytems you know. Also while some users like to maximize their browser windows i definetly Do NOT. This is generaly something you might want to contemplate on since i bet you dont like others pushing their habits on you either.
well....you may want to have a splash screen with an option for full screen...i kinda like it...if it was a game or something....
Ok, bad critics here... let me tell a few things b4 you open your mouths any more... Remember this is aimed at the typical "CS GAME PLAYERS" only... Which means they typically would own a P3 or higher with a decent graphics card... Also 89% of CS players are on DSL or Cable or higher (fact)... So NO this site is not for everyone, target audience is 3d gamers only. I figured that these basic facts would be taken into consideration but obviously not. No worries though... A bad crit is good crit... Bad publicity is Great publicity. You should comment the 3d art and not the actual "web site

I have a fast system and DSL and I found the load times to be a bit annoying .. It's impressive maybe the first time viewing but becomes too much really fast. I would prefer a way to get out of fullscreen mode without having to alt f4 the window and close it.
As for the graphics I could take or leave them.. they are what they are.. It looks nice and shiny and metallic which is what you were going for but I didn't find it to be particularily clever. I guess you were going for some kind of terminator cyberdyne type look or effect.. have you looked at http://www.terminator3.com/ ? I like this site because it just does it's thing and you can interact with it.. there are so many little nothings going on but it's cool and it's fast.

uh... this is Global 2D/3D forums for professionals... it does not specify that it has to be for movie work or animated shorts or modelling or flash stuff or any amount of things... It`s a general forum for critiques... So what if its meant for gamers? This guy is asking for a critique on his work as a professional... so give a real critique as Urp said... and like GMask gave...

This is a great idea if he only wanted the opinion of would be "clients or customers". Would you not agree that he was looking for advice from fellow artists who might be able to offer him "real" advice on how to improve what he has? A gamer (client) only knows what he likes or doesn't like. That is very useful information, but not much help for improving his work.
Perhaps he would benefit from going to a Flash user site. Those guys know better than anyone what is not "ugh" in the Flash community, and then give some direction on how to approach his site. However, those guys don't usally know 3D graphics that well, so is it not reasonable to assume he might find some help here...if we didn't let our egos get in the way.
I think gmask did a great job of giving useful information, he didn't sugar coat it, it was just as direct as the rest. Yet, he maintained a level of respect and professionalism. That is what each of us would want, so why not be that way to others.

You're getting some real stinkers of crits here. Guess no game art is appreciated... all those in the games industry should go elswhere, not really 3D anyway.
Critic, I found the 3D elements flat and quite ambiently light. If I were light them I probably choose a different lighting set-up. Change the direction of the key lights give it a bit of rim lighting yadda yadda yadda... nice to separate itself out from the black BG. BG could use something too if you really wanted to push it further. It didn't reach out to me and say, sweet... but more as was said abouve, it is what it is. Nothing to do with the idea or the concept, but it could be pushed further... add that element of polish.
I agree, I think I will add a bit more shadows just to give it a little more depth. My goal was to create a feeling as if the entire scene was suspended free are... In outter space basically. But yes, Ambiant light is a little high. I hope with deeper shadows, it brings it out the geo a little more. Thanks for the effective crit.

Ok, this is getting out of hands but i say people have the right to dislike it. Dislike is critique, right.
But jut to appologize, but im serious about the fact that people in general dont like you to grab their entire monitor just for a website. Its rude.
Also a web site dont become cool just by adding a ton of animation and graphics on top of it (its either impressive or just ridiculous, and they both satrt anoying before long). In fact most of the very usefull websites are wery plain. The reason for this is that the content is much more important than how it looks.
Also fast conections dont realy help all the time either... And offcourse its realy easy to dump alot of graphics everywhere (you se we make graphics and we know it isnt that hard). Its better to have a simple working interface than lots of stuff, you get confused.
So a button should be self explanatory even before you put a cutrsor on top etc.
Ps yes its realy getting out of hand.
