How to draw straight lines?

This may be a silly question, but how do you draw straight lines in Maya? Could someone explain why there is a curve tool that acts like the bezier tool in illustrator or Photoshop, yet does not create straight lines?

YOu can make straight lines by using the grid snap or holding the shift key when clicking

Under the options for the EP Curve Tool, set the Curve Degree to 1. Now every time you you add a new point to your curve, it will be connected to the previous one with a straight line.

Its not bezier it nurbs wich is the same thing but more compact once you get into nurbs (actualy beziers are alimitted subset of nurbs) you wont want to use beziers anymore.

Straignt line tip 4 if your curve is of order 3 (cubic), then paint three conciding points before going to next point (this is actualy kindof how beziers work! but allways)
