How to mask text outline in combustion?

Hey all,
I'm pretty new to combustion and I have an idea that I'm having trouble producing in combustion.

I have this white background layer and I want a particle effect to go from the left side to the right side. As it's doing that I want it to "reveal" some text.

Basically, I want the outline of the text to be visible and the inner- body of the text to be transparent. Am I making any sense?

Hi,

To have the text of your outline showing but not the fill is straight forward.

You first create your text, set your font sizes and layout etc. Now go to the attributes menu in text. You will get this when you select the text and the TEXT menu in the paint controls. Under "Attributes" you will see face, outline and Shadow. Turn off Face and turn on outline. This will create the look you are after. All you need to do is decide on the colour of the text outline. This also affects your alpha channel as well so you can have images behind the text which show though.

As for using the particles to reveal the text. You could use an animated mask to reveal the text as the particles pass over that area. Alternatively, depending on your experience, you could use alpha from the text and have that revealed using the particles alpha channel. But this takes practice and experience to get it right....
