How to Render Camera View only?

Hi!
I created my first 3D animation in Maya from the tutorials in the book Maya 4 Fundamentals. I created the scene of a boat moving in the ocean as described in the book Maya 4 Fundamentals. I selected the Boat Camera in the Camera option in Render Globals menu and then rendered the scene as per the instructions given in the book. But Maya renders the perspective view first and then only it renders the view from the boat Camera. Although I was able to render the scene, since two views are rendered it takes a lot of time. I checked out both avi and tiff. But in both these cases the perspective is rendered first and then the boat Camera.
Is there any method by which i can render only the view from the Boat Camera? If so please give me instructions on how to render the view from Boat Camera only. Anticipating reply.

Select the other camera and in it's attributes under output turn off render.

I did that tutorial a while ago too.

I used maya 4.5, but the book was for maya 4.0
I had problems with the camera too (never solved it), and i think it started when you apply the stuff for the sky from the CD-ROM to the boat camera (or something, can't really remember).
I think it works if you either remove the camera alteded with stuff from the CD-ROM, or just omit that step. Just put your own camera there and it probably works. Of cource you get a black sky, since you have not set up the image planes (or what ever they used) for the sky.

In my case I thought it was a version problem between 4.0 and 4.5. Maybe your CD-ROM also is for another version of Maya than you actually run?
