How To Render In Standalone

Hi, my name is Omar.

I have just install maya and I want to know how to render in
standalone mode using python.

My intention is:

1) Create a simple scene (for example a sphere)
2) Render the scene in standalone mode using raytracing
3) Save the image created in a PNG for example

It could be possible???
