Hypergraph node characteristics

ok, heres another small question thats niggling me.

in the hypergraph, say i have a group node, with a few geometry nodes as children underneath it. now, when its all expanded and i move it around(in the hypergraph view), the children nodes move as expected underneath it. but when i collapse the group node, then move it, then open it again, the children haven't moved to a new location, but have remained where they were before i first collapsed the node.

is this normal, if so, is it possible to change it? i've had a look at a few things, but havent seen anything of much relevance.

i know its only a small thing, but when i start working with larger projects i can see this getting really annoying, so id really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to make the children nodes follow when the group is collapsed.

Under hypergraph|options|layout you have two choices freeform or automatic.. I think you want to use freeform

thanks for answering my questions gmask. i tried this but it didnt do what i wanted, also i already had it in freeform.

the problem is when i collapse a group/heirarchy and then move it somwhere else on the hypergraph, when i reopen it, only the top parent node has moved, while all the children which then become visible remain in their original position, it just makes the lines longer that connect them if you see what i mean.

i guess this is just a little "feature" of maya! thanks for your help though, much appreciated.
