Hypershade Problem (2)

Hi,

I cannot seem to make a blinn in hypershade apply properly. I already applied a previous blinn to it, but I thought that if I selected the faces then >apply to selected material would remove it and take its place. Well I can see the color in object mode, but whenever I exit that and do something else it goes back to this blackish color that my previous blinn is.

Am I not supposed to apply blinn over another?

How do I fix this problemo?

Any help is greatly GREATLY appreciated.

Hi afterbang,

I say anythings possible in Maya unless it crashes or the engineers i pass my projects files to yell at me :]

Ya know...i had this same experience...I had a large multi faced polyonal shape that i applied one shader to and then later selected individual faces and applied per face textures. Well...later i did'nt like the over all texture so started over again.

Its a good question...can we delete a texture assignment from the history of Maya??? Can we replace an assigned texture with a different shader or better yet no shader?

Where are those experts when you need them..

i'm curious

I cant replicate this?? what version of maya? (no replication no testing no testing no solution)

OH and by the way DELETING the setconnection to nothing is DEFINETLY something nooe of you realy wants. Trust me on this itwould just amkkae the object invisible.

Also texture assignments are SETS so they have no part in history. Tough to be truthfull mesh nodes CAN propagate this even despite of this by grouping nodes
