I was recently told about some 3d program that is like a box. you draw on the walls, floor and roof the it draws the object in the middle. does anyone know the name of this program by any chance.

i have posted an example of the program. in this case the guy has made a bugatti veyron.

thanks in advance.

err yes lots of them they just dont solve things entirely right, for example solidworks does this (most cae apps do). It just works ONLY for very rudimentary shapes. And doing the same shape in the software is even easier. you just use this when you already have the drawings ready. Its more of a migration tool than anything else*.

wont succeed directly for that picture anyhow, just because the program helps you don't mean it didn't involve work. IN anycase its not even hard to do this in maya IF you have REAL CAD projections (the standards for engineering drawings projection conventions make it easy.)

Yes you'd want to use a cae app for a picture like that, well for all except the chasis.**

*most machined parts are quite simple, because they had to make sense when shown in 3 projections. But drawing th 3 projs takes more time than the other way around. But making this with a cae app is NOT hard at all, just you need to know all the parts you need and have some patience.***

** cae apps are meant for machining parts so they work way differently form say maya. And doing things like holes bores fillets and rounds is pretty trivial in them. On the other hand shaping a hand, head or so in a cae app is almost impossible to do. Wish is why the industrial designers work on separate tools that then interface with the cae apps.

*** when i used to do my first drafting coyurses i kept being blown away just how COOL stuff you get by actually working on the drawing incrementally for 8 hours. Yet the avarage drawing is quitre cool due to 100 hoyrs pent drawing on its separate parts.
