I've been using Maya 8.0 for 5 months now and everything has been working fine. Tonight I was working on a scene but was stopped short because I can't zoom in and out using the MMB scroll nor the ALT + RMB click in neither of the persp or orthographic views.
The last thing I did before this problem occured was create a camera in my scene. I was playing around with its focal position then decided to try playing with the "dolly tool" under the "view >> camera tools" submenu. When the tool turned on, I was playing around with it when everything in my scene flipped around. After, I realized I couldnt zoom in and out so I closed Maya without saving. I reopened it, but this time the output window read an error message regarding a "user pref" file in the Maya folder on my hard drive. Same zooming problem. I've turned off my computer, then tried restarting everything as well as resetting all of my Maya preferences. Same problem.
Can anybody help??
P.S. when I try scrolling with MMB and ALT + RMB click, the words in the help line keep moving and it will count the distance I'm scrolling. Also, in the orthographic views, when I'm attempting to scroll, a red line will appear with "x's" growing along the red line as I scroll, but the view won't change. This red line and x's thing has never happened before.
