I dont think soft realizes

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's an options panel or a configuration area i can go into soft and tweak the usage of resources that it takes up....

i honestly dont think that softimage is taking full advantage of my system's potential.... is there ANY way to know? or to tweak soft to get the most out of my machine?

what inspired this post?
I checked out my systems manager... it said soft was running at 98% cpu.. which is fine and understandable... BUT it said it was only using 130megs of ram... while i have 512megs on my system!!

i wanna give softimage all the lovin' i can.

I think its a secret no one likes to pass out. Ive wondered this myself at times and have also posted about it. shrug

because RAM doesnt work like CPU, no program is supposed to use all of your RAM just casue theres available RAM to use.

ram gets used as your scenes become bigger. thats it. its not like itll use 512 ram when you simply open softimage up...

when you start to add textures...shaders...etc..thats when your scenes will grow ...and more ram will be used.

you don't have to allocate ram like on a mac, on PCs it does it as needed. Compared to MAYA or Houdini the resource usage seems quite good without leeks and the amount its using is impressive
