I hit render, but my models don't get rendered

Hey guys. Maybe someone who is more familiar with XSI can help me out on this one. I use Soft3D at work and have been playing with XSI 2 in my spare time trying to learn a little here and there.

Anyway, for some reason, although I can see my model shaded and textured in the camera viewport, when I render it or do a preview of it, the screen renders black.
This is bugging me just a bit because I'm trying to finish a personal project by next weekend to show some people and if it won't render, then it's worthless.

Thanks ahead of time for any ideas anyone can give me. I know it's just probably something simple that I'm overlooking.

Check to see if the objects or current layers render visibility is turned on. (This is different from viewport visiblilty) Also check to see if you are rendering a "normal" pass and not a shadow pass or something like that. Make sure you are rendering the right camera too.

Usually, if everything seems ok and my image still doesn't render I'll try to create a new, empty pass. If it still doesn't work I check the connection to the license server - our clients have this annoying habit of dropping the licenses from time to time.
