I Need A Script.....help!

Hi!

i need a script that pops up my name or something like that everytime my maya file opens.Actually,i need to show some of my work to somebody (and he has asked for maya files...) and i don't want my work to be used without my permission.So......i need somethiung that will make sure that everybody who sees that file knows its my work.....
Help!
i need to send the files tomorrow or max day after.......

  1. place the "this is mine" text inside the mel.

  2. wrap the mel file in an exe installer ( NSIS http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main\_Page ) which pops up a dialog displaying the "this is mine" text when ppl want to install your mel file onto the desktop.

  3. Your script can popup a dialog when it get's sourced. Just place the code outside of any function and it'll get executed.

yeah you can just put a modal window at the end of your .ma file

and replace everything in quotes with whatever you want it to say.

This won't work if it's saved as a .mb later on though.

Put the above confirm dialog into a script node. and set the script node to execute on load.

Then it will survive even the mb conversion.

And how were you planning to tie the exe file to the maya file?

Duh, silly me, I thought the maya file was a mel script file. There you go, my post is obsolete.

but......what are you talking about? i don't know too much scripting and it would be nice if you could possibily be a little less discreet!...seriously! i just know basic scripting(basic...as in really basic).Please tell me what i have to do...
I mean I got the modal window part(thanks!) but what do i do about the .mb conversion? that tieing up with an exe thing?

no dude! i don't need to protect the maya file,i just need my name (or a custom message) to popup every time the file is opened.....thats all.Something that does not change whether the file is .ma or .mb.......

Do what Joojaa said "Put the above confirm dialog into a script node. and set the script node to execute on load."

Search the documentation for scriptNodes, they are something similar to xml data islands residing html pages. Simply beautiful.
