I am having problems with the paint on paintable objects feature of paintfx. I am unable to paint on surfaces after making them paintable. The brush curser traces the geometry, but when I try to paint the brush starts at the depth at which I initiated the stroke, then paints the screen. The stroke actually leaves the geometry when I try to paint the sides. The stroke also goes through the geometry if the stroke was started on the side. I am not having problems with artisan or with drawing curves on live surfaces so this is as far as I know exclusive to paintfx. This also happens when I try to paint on the modeling plane, which I believe is the default painting surface in scene mode. If I start paint up close to the camera, where the brush is larger (because of perspective), the brush stays at that size and paints the screen when I move the curser to the horizon. I
yea .. the Gloria three uses a Geforce based system that has trouble with Hardware overlays that are required with PaintFX .
Try the win2k reg update that is found in the Maya ttols that enbales a backbuffer that should speed up the PaintFX usage.
Is called "overlay" enabler for Geforce cards.. and it IS on this site.
