Well, i dont think the modelling is a big deal, however the shading si a wee bit tricky to accomplish as snow and ice is one of the hardest materials to get right.

For me both modeling & Shading is going hard because in
modeling if i use terrain image for displacement then how can i get those seperate part & some random crack type mesh.& for shading i m confused @ can mental ray SSS shader will work or not??? i think 3Delight renderman will be best

shatter, boolean or well theres lots of scripts on this site that can help you with that.

yes the sss part however snow is overbright, wchich is not very often modelled in shaders.

After Long ... i made decision to do this in vue
here is my first test in vue for iceBerg..Huh nothing interesting but hope i will get soon good.

Changing applications mid run rarely helps. Anyway, the thing thet strikes with your picture is HO BIG a glacier or iceberg* are you after.

*it dont actually become a iceberg untill itchips off and floats on water you know.
