"if Help Isn't Working" Doesn't Work

My problem: (I bet you've heard of it) I can't start the help-database in Maya

Precisely, I get the error-pop-up "blablabla Localhost:4449 coudn't connect blablabla"

A very common problem, with a lot of solutions:

1. Proxy-configurations (I checked with IE and Firefox)

2. Administrative Tools > Services), and start the Maya 7.0 Documentation Server, if necessary. (Server runs)

3. Set Help Location to Remote and enter http://:4449/Maya7.0/en_US/.
   (doesn't work neither - with and without Firewall)

4. I tried to start the Database directly, also by opening .../en_US/index.html.
   Now, the message is: C:/Programme/.../chapter.topics/ coudn't be found.

I hope, one of you know more tipps.

okay sounds actualy like youve broken the help entirely. or alternatively the help is in some other port.

What os are you running?

I still wote its the firewall. tough I have once had to debugg this for a guy who tought the knew everythingg about his computer who had unistalled needed services form the computer wich led this not to work (plese please only do this if you realy realy know everything every peice of app is doing on your computer). if you have fiddled with internals then do reset them back and or reinstall the os.

oh and ps you dont happen to use a tunnel? if so the ip is the lovcal connetors ip not the tunnels.

I'm working with Windows XP SP2 and Norton Internet Security.

So I just deactivate the Internet Security, to shut down the firewall and don't care about tunnels and IP's.

and no, I didn't play with the internals g.

If you asked me, I would say, I'm just doing some stupid thing wrong, when I try to fix the help-database.

But don't you know a direct way, to start it, so that I can be sure, the database isn't the problem?

I just reinstalled Maya. (the joke is: I've reinstalled it befor, twice...)
