Iges Import Question

Hello;

I'm wondering if anyone here has had the following issue:

I'm trying to import a series of IGES models into 3DS MAX 9. (They were exported from a CAD program, not Solidworks but something similar.) The models go through the loading process and are 99% complete--I can see the objects appearing in the viewports--but never complete the process. All of a sudden the screen goes blank and I'm left with an empty file. It's happened repeatedly with several different models.

Has this happened to anyone else here, and if so, is the problem at my end or does it have to do with how the model was output? And how might I rectify it?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
