Im getting "The segment is not a valid project"

When I download a XSI project packed with zip Im getting "The segment is not a valid project" when I try to open it. If I copy the .scn file to a different project it works to open, how come? When I take one of my projects, zip it and unpack again and try to open XSI wont open it, but when I do the same with a .rar everything seems to work...
Im using winrar3 to package, maybe it would work better with winzip? does anyone know?

"The segment is not a valid project" just means that XSI thinks your scene is not in a project. My guess is that when you zipped the scene, you did not include the project's directory structure. Try zipping the entire project and preserving the directory structure.

BTW, Dragging the scene into the interface while holding down the alt key will avoid this problem all together. (But, it does a merge, instead of a load.)

I don't know why it doesn't work with zip files..sounds really weird...
But to get a project archived correctly, you have to include a folder named "system" - which is in the project structure, along with Scenes, Models, etc.
It is hidden normally (by Windows - if you checked the Hide System and Portected files option) and it is by the presence of this folder that XSI understand what is a project and what isn't. If you want to test - just move this folder from an existing project and run Scan Disk for Projects from the Project Manager - I bet you will not XSI will not find it...
So just make sure that you archive this System folder in your project and it will be all right...

That system folder was missing from the project I downloaded from the net, thats why I wasnt able to load it.

I found out why it didnt work with zip before.
Im using winrar, and it seems that earlier versions than 3.0 doesnt include hidden filer/folders when packing with zip, but when packing with rar it includes them, thus I wasnt able to load scenes that i packed with zip.

Winrar 3 seems to pack the hidden files no matter what compression type you are using, so everything works as it should
