Image Sequence || Movie Texture: Maya

Dear *All:

I know this is a real beginner question, but I forgot how to do this.

How do I load in a movie or image sequence as a texture?

I tried one way by clicking the image sequence check, but it automatically creates an expression that makes it time to the frames..(purple box)
it still doesn't work?
I have tried to edit the the expression and comment out the code or make another expression but that still doesn't do anything?
I am trying import some simple .jpeg[s] into a texture node in order for it to be applied to a nurb model

If anyone knows how to solve this I would appreciate this

is your image sequenced named something like the the following?

texture.000.jpg
texture.001.jpg
texture.003.jpg
texture.004.jpg

actually it is like this:

Comp 1_00001.jpg
Comp 1_00002.jpg
Comp 1_00003.jpg
Comp 1_00004.jpg
Comp 1_00005.jpg

ok then that's the problem.. set your output name template to name.{####}.jpg

yeah noticed earlier today when I outputted the file(mov) through fcheck and imported in the maya .iff sequence

umm that may or may not have been a very smart move. because fchek has a tendency to drop quality for large ictures.

Anwyway this is one of those things where knowing how to use a commandline makes this easy as hell (less thna a 1 second job for the user)

Since he's probably on windows I'd like to know what commandline prorgram will convert quicktimes to image sequences.. it's been awhile but last time I checked there weren't any except for Shake which of course is no longer supported on windows and was never cheap or free.

The main issue with fcheck is that it does not allow you to specify compression for jpeg so the default is very lossy. I have had no problems converting to uncompressed formats. Otherwise I'd suggest using AE or Quicktime Pro to do the conversion.

you still didn't tell me about this mythical commandline program that makes QT conversions.. shake is still not a good answer.

Qt pro, you can command it form command line. Also theres a few ones that come with the linux tool sets that you can get via cygwin.

But i downloaded a smell executalble ages ago that does a bit more than that one a while ago, but cant remember where i got it form. I think qt development forum was where i got it from

(i needed to write my own so it can also automatically generate a timecode track)

and I don't have QT pro because every time you update QT you have to buy a new version of Pro-20.00USD

go to quicktime.com they have full suite of applescripting, prettymuch anything you can do in the progtram + 10 times mores available via applescript

However since your on mac get shake (its dirt cheap and best of best comp prog out there and it can automate about anything.)

I may be wrogn but wouldn't you need QT pro to beable to script export functions?

i dont say anything else. But the api works actually without qt pro becaus progs like AE use it.
