hello,
i have a .bmp image that i would like to use as a texture on a surface in Maya. how would i import this file into maya so i can do this?
thanks for your help!
Ok,
Open the Hypershade window.. from pulldown create/material pick shader type (Lambert, Blinn, Phong etc.) next, double click on the new shader ball. In the new window material attributes/color click on the little checkered box icon in new window click on file ... then next to image name, click on the folder icon, then select the image you want to map, hit open ... close attribute editor window. Then select the object .. right click your new shader and choose assign to selected. Done!
select the item to render, click the material (blinn, phong, etc...), and the attribute editor should come up. In " Color", click on the little box to its right (they're in the same line), looks like a mini checker board. Then, in the new pop up window, click on the "File" button.(looks like a green piece of rolling paper.) Then, select your file.
I hate writing so long. This works with all picture files(I think.) on the keyboard, press"6" to show it on the scene. I had the same problem, took me a week, I'm starting to think I suck.
