I am trying to import some OBJ files into Maya (6.5 on the PC) but it fails to load the associated materials and textures from the .MTL file.
as a test, I created a unit cube with a jpg textured onto its material, and saved it as an OBJ. it saves out correctly, with the MTL file and referenced jpg, but when i then import that OBJ into maya, it loses the material.

so, does anyone know how to get Maya to import OBJ's and respect the actual MTL file and create the materials/textures?
