The Iges format does not work well with Pollys.
If this ever comes out: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dotxsi4maya then it will be your best solution. Until then here are a couple of things that you can do to get around it.
The easiest way to get models from Maya to XSI is to export your Maya models as Wavefront OBJ files and use the Wavefront OBJ Importer v.1 script on this page: http://www.edharriss.com/SoftXSI\_tools.htm ...to import them into XSI. Unfortunately it does not import all obj types. So it might not be the most reliable way.
The most reliable way to get models from Maya to XSI has been to export an OBJ from Maya and import it into SOFTIMAGE|3D then save it as either an hrc (softimage model) or a .XSI file. Then load that into XSI.
The most expensive/comprehensive way to get your Maya models into XSI is to buy a copy of Polytrans. http://www.okino.com
