Hi all, having a tough time here with a referencing problem.
I need to import animation with references preserved into a main file but when it comes in it comes in with a prefix.
Example: If I ref in a file called animfile and in it theres a beaver, he will now be called animfile:beaver. Can I avoid this? I tried leaving the "resolve with this string" in the import window blank but it came in with the filename by default. I would fix it with a search and replace in asci but because of my reference system, when it goes to save it creates a bunch of errors before i get to that point. Since the files being imported have references preserved they can not be renamed or deleted after the importing is done. Has anyone had this happen before? Thanks in advance!
somebody asked this earlier maybe last month or this one cant remeber. As far as i could find out there was no way of doing so even if theres a flag that woud apparently allow such things but it woks still with a prefix.
THe real question is why oes it matter? As long as the naming convetion of your files is smart then its actualy fine youd have beaver:character and mole:character ![]()
(there is one instence where it matters that i know of and taht is if you use getAttr in your expressions... well one shouldnt do that anyway so the point is that a bad workflow got worse. Offcourse thet workflow souldnt have been used anyway. but hey ite easy neough to have a scriptnode that corrects the situation, ore just manualy rename the expressions)
It is a known bug in 6 that this feature isn't working properly. I oulined the problem to Alias a while back and it's logged as an offical bug. They said it should be addressed in 6.5.
Yeah i asumed it was because why the hell would there be a flag taht seemingly would allow you to do things that it does not. And yes i got reported it was alogegeed as one (bacuse soon after this post i actualy aked them if its a bug) .
They still havent fixed the loftbug by the way.
