Hi, this should be simple, but I cannot figure out... I download a mel (xyShrinkWrap-v0.1-), I heard it is cool. I copy it into: computer/user name/document/maya/8.0/scripts and open maya script editor and type:
Maya cannot find it, but its in the scripts folder...
Some said the scripts name and procedure name have to be the same, but what is the procedure name? how to rename it or rename the scripts name? Thanks.
Theres problematic few assumptions hare that you do:
maya uses folder user which is only true if you use default settings on your computer. Even then some later install may fiddle with it. So use getEnv to ask maya kindly what folders it is using.
you assume that because the file is in folder maya will find it. Not true, maya will find it if it was in the folder when you started maya. Maya updates the contents once if you want maya to update this mid run you must issue rehash.
but your not there yet: Not all programs run on source most scripts you have are not sourced but called by their name eg xyShrinkWrap() or xyShrinkWrap("some","attribs")
