Intensity With Hdri Light In Mentalray-maya

how do controle light intensity with hdr in mentalray?

i have used maya for several years. and now its time to learn how to use imagebase lightning in mentalray.
well. so far so good. dumb as i am, i thinked it would be easy. boy i would have known better.

my setup is like this. One spere, one Box on a groundplane.
now i want to render it with mental ray IBL.

i shoose to create a sphere in mentalray as a light source.
in imagebase lightning attrubutes-- image name-- i shoose a hdri map.

In the tab, light emission i check the box.. Emit light.

Now o try to render.. Neatly yhe whole image become white.
the light is too strong. How do i lower the light intensity ?
i have checked everywhere ?

pls need help on this one. i have looked for several days do find where i lower it.

turn down the image textures color gain! you can find it in all relevant nodes.

Its the most fundamental and widespread maya texture operator by the way...

PS dont use a sphere usa a ibl node instead! taht ias asuming your on two f the newest maya genarations wich is 6.5 or above.

when i in maya choose.. create imagebase.. doent it then make a ibl node?
isnt that the same thing?

or do i havemake a hdri light setup in a different way.

no the ibl node makes for a different kind of source as it can also shooth photons to your scene! Its tha same a s asphere but its more easy to manage as all you might need forma a ibl light is isncluded in thes node directly!

A normal shphere is jsuta a norma

How do i create a IBL node and makes into the sceen.

(i thought that it was that i did when i press create in mentalray window)
