Inverse selection question?

How do you selct polys, make a cluster, then select the inverse polys of a mesh?
-then select all polys and deselect the cluster?

I can't seem to get it- please help new user

Select the cluster, do MCP > Select > Select Members/Component, then do MCP > Select > Invert Using Filter.
