Yes there is a way but it is pretty complicated. Try to follow this.
What you do first is you take the movie and save it into an image sequence. Once you have the whole sequence of pictures you import an image plane into maya just like always, exept in the Atribute editor (ctrl+A) Check off the " Use Image Sequence" Check box. Now the image number line should unlock, you need to set your timeline to the amound of frames of your image sequence. Then go to frame one and put into the "Frame Offset" line the first pictures name. Then Right click on it and select Set Key. Now go to the last frame of your animation, depending on how many images you have, say you have 500 images then you should go to frame 500. Type in the name of your last image and right click, then Set Key.
Two More IMPORTANT things, The names of you image sequence should all be NUMBERS. They should be consistent, ( example: 1,2,3... 01,02,03...).
Hope this helps.
P.S. Maya live is used to track cammera movement, say u have a Shaky cammera and u want to match that motion to add an affect that moves with the cammera then u use maya Live. How to do it is a different story.
