Is Xsi 2 really ready

I have heard and read many times that Xsi is still too buggy and the industry is still not prepared to use it.
I know of someone who is a beta tester for v2, he recomends thats we still use soft 3.9 for our final year project instead of xsi 2, and this does not sit well with me.
Does xsi 2 still have major problems with the animation side of the package or any side of the package?
I cannot use it for my final project this year if it still crashes every five minutes.

I've been to the usergroup meeting at the IBC where people of Henson Company talked about their works on 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. They said they were preferring the XSI 2 beta clearly over any prevoius final release, even for production.
This should be good news.

Hi there - I'm completely biased of course, but I do believe that 2.0 even in it's current beta state is extremely stable, as witnessed by the fact people are using it currently in production. There are still some issues, which we are addressing now during the beta stage ahead of the general release, but I am confident that this will be the most stable version yet, with a ton more features,

If you find XSI to be unstable, it depends largely on your configuration, and most of all, as far as I have experienced, on your graphic card itself and the driver edition you use for it.
On version 1.5.3, I maybe experience 1 crash a month! So all I can say is that on some systems this soft is really rocksolid.
If V2.0 is even better than that, well, what more can we ask for?

My stabilty problems (and most people I work with) have mostly always been rendering related, either crashes with the region tool or when rendering out frames, the smaller you render, the longer it takes to crash, so I don't see how it could be video card or driver related. I work in W2k when constructing my scenes but find NT4 sp5 more stable for final rendering, it still crashes on bigger scenes but usually you get at least halfway through as opposed to about a fifth of the way through in W2k, maybe this is more mental ray than xsi, but it never happened in soft 3.9 so maybe it is the way mental ray integrates with xsi, I am really hoping this is fixed in xsi 2.0

From all the good reviews XSI 2 is getting, I'm sure it is a lot more stable and mature then 1.5x. From what I heared so far it's the bomb!

We all read negative reviews of XSI 1.5x and stories that talks how unreliable it is.

On the other hand I know many production houses where some guys only using XSI. I'm talking about 1.5x. Yes, it gives them more worries than they like, but they love it!
