Keep CVs or not?

In the Rebuild Surface options there is an option to Keep CVs. What is this for excactly and why use it/not use it?

That will try to preserve the exiting positions of CV's when rebuilding ..in othe rword sif you turn it off your overall shape will more likely be changed

like master mask sais, and the pragmatics being that you can reparameterise w/o shape change.
