Keeping elbow on table?

hi,
im trying to find a character setup that allows me to keep elbow on its place. for example my character is sitting in front of a table and he is leaning to it with his elbows. i think the same problem is present when a character is kneeling down... any suggestions?

One thought on this is to create an IK solver from the shoulder to the elbow. Key your elbow IK handles when they're in place on top of the table and they'll stick.
