Have you watched the CMI ones? Watch them and you will understand why(very unorganized). Pretty much the Gnomon are the lesser of two evils.
I would have to agree (partially) with this opinion.
The CMI Shake DVDs are, quite honestly, very bad from a training perspective. The guy doing the training just flys through various tools and techniques, assuming that you already know how to do them. And there's very little of the "whys" behind the things that are performed in the training...it's more like a color-by-numbers, "click this button and use this node to get this effect" style of training. In my opinion, you should save your money...the CMI stuff isn't worth it (the Shake Sky Replacements DVD, in particular, is very, VERY lacking and disappointing).
The CMI "Image Replacement" DVD looks promising, however...at least in terms of subject matter. I'm curious to see how good it is, but I'm not willing to put down any more money on CMI's stuff until they either get someone else to do the training, or spread out the training over more DVDs, so they don't try to squeeze so much stuff into such a short period of time.
The Gnomon DVDs (with the exception of the "Shake 101" disc, which is quite possibly the worst training DVD i've ever seen in my life) are VASTLY superior to the CMI discs. In fact, I would disagree that they are "the lesser of 2 evils", because it was the Gnomon DVDs that allowed me to get up to speed with nearly all aspects of Shake in a incredibly short amount of time. Matt Linder has a really good teaching style that enables you to actually retain the knowledge that is being taught. I know this sounds like a shill (I promise I'm not), but the Gnomon discs are worth every penny (except that dreadful Shake 101 disc, of course)
