linux/Windows gamma question

does anyone know if there is an inherent gamma issue on windows maya vs. linux maya? When I render out the same scene on a windows machine vs. a linux machine, I get two separate results. (I am checking the results on a mac.) So my question is does anyone know if there is a setting that you have to adjust on a linux box? because the Linux render is coming out a stop or so darker.

When you render a scene there is no system gamma involved . . . that than a issue of maya on windows and linux itself.

In Linux you can adjust your monitor gamma with the tool xgamma
(xgamma --help), changings will take effekt after restart your xserver. But that has nothing to do with rendering a file in maya.

In a totally software based Render it is hard to beleive that the final image is different, At least as far as gomma, while it might be different in terms of dynamics simulations which at the end results in different reflections, lighting . . . which in fact is not the case here.

However can you read the RGB values of both renders and compare to see if they are different or it's just a hrdware feed back ??

Cheers
