Liquid In A Cup

hey guys i canr seem to fiiguere out how to add liquid into a cup or bottle, and i cant find a tutorial. plase help

I've been researching that my self. I have a irregular cup in which I want to have a fluid pond simulation. but the pond just comes in the a square type of shape, and there's no apparent way to fit it with another container. I've managed to isert it into the cup, and setup collisions so that the wake that I created in the pond bounces off the sides of the cub, BUT there are 4 corners of the pond sticking out the cup...

I can't figure it out. Alias really didn't make this intuitive.
I understand with the oceans... they just go off to the horizon, but a pond is a pond... ever saw a suare pond? what gives!!!

Its called fluid because its a fluid simulation, but quit unintuitively it does not simulate fluids in this manner. See even simulating gases is CALLED fluid simulation, now a cup and water is a 2 fluid sim. Now this specific case is outside of the maya fluid sims scope, as it would include 2 different fluids in one container and maya don't do that.

You could do this in sortof wierd way, but ist not the purpose of maya fluids.

Thanks for your reply Jooja! As usuall you're instrumental in helping us newbies understand stuff.
I posted because even after watching fluid tutorials by Digital Tutors and Gnomon no one mentioned anything about such an obvious question and an answer to it. One would figure that when Alias (now Autodesk) provided such a tool as ponds for such obvious applications as liquids in glasses etc... not so. I have a hard time understanding where you could use ponds other than rectangular containers. it's almost useless.

what is your recommendation Real Flow?
