In the Local Kinematics ppg, go to the Position Limits. Put the current Translation values in all the appropriate fields.

If your cam is animated and you dont want to accidently set new keys on it, i think the only way is to make itunselectable.If you come from Maya, i think i know what you're searching for, namely "lock attributes". There is no such thing in XSI, afaik.Cheers
