Long Exposure Effect

Hi,

I'm trying to come up with an effect in Shake 4.1 that simulates a very long exposure time for each frame giving the effect of trailing highlights (headlight streaks etc.). I have a method of bringing in a frame and then combining it with the highlights of the previous frame and this with the frame before that etc. but it takes ages to set up and is quite expensive in terms of computing power.

Because of the way Shake works you can't just stack a load of timeX nodes on top of each other as you would think and as far as I can see you have to bring in the footage once for each frame with an frame offset of -1 (or whatever!). Have any of you guys seen a plugin that does something like this or have created a macro that simplifies the setup?

Maybe an offset on several layers of the source that step down in transparency controlled by time. Experiment with different transfer methods... source luminance as controlling values...

Have you tried reTiming in the FileIn? Click on Speed, set it to 1, weight to 1 and range to the number of frames you wish to blend.
